AMD acqui-hires the staff behind Untether AI | TechCrunch


AMD is continuous its acquisition spree.

Semiconductor big AMD acqui-hired the group behind Untether AI, a startup that develops AI inference chips, as originally reported by CRN. Untether claims that their chips are quicker and extra energy-efficient than their rivals. The phrases of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Toronto-based Untether was based in 2018 and has raised greater than $150 million in enterprise capital from companies together with Intel Capital, Radical Ventures, and Tracker Capital Administration, amongst others.

Untether launched an AI chip in October meant to energy bodily AI functions in machines together with vehicles and agricultural gadgets.

Earlier this week, AMD introduced it had acquired AI software program optimization platform Brium.
