Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice chairman of companies, gave an ominous warning immediately that the iPhone might go the way in which of the iPod 10 years from now. And the rationale, as one may guess, is synthetic intelligence.
Incumbents have a tough time … we’re not an oil firm, we’re not toothpaste — these are issues which might be going to final without end … you could not want an iPhone 10 years from now.
Cue went on to say that the perfect factor Apple did was kill the iPod, a transfer he mentioned was daring. “Why would you kill the golden goose,” he added.
That will appear to be a foolish factor for Apple to say, provided that greater than half of its income is iPhone gross sales. However Cue calls AI a “enormous technological shift,” and means that such shifts can humble corporations that when appeared unassailable. “Once I received to Silicon Valley,” he mentioned, “all the perfect corporations or probably the most profitable corporations” — he talked about HP, Solar Microsystems, and Intel — “both don’t exist immediately or are considerably smaller and far much less impactful.”
