GitHub CEO to step down | TechCrunch

GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke announced on Monday that he’s stepping down from his position. Dohmke will stay on the Microsoft-owned firm till the top of the 12 months, after which he’ll depart to develop into “a founder once more,” he wrote in a blog post.

Axios reports that Microsoft won’t instantly substitute the place, and that GitHub management will now report back to a number of Microsoft executives.

“With greater than 1B repos and forks, and over 150 million builders, GitHub has by no means been stronger than it’s immediately,” Dohmke wrote. “We now have seen extra open-source initiatives with extra contributions yearly. AI initiatives have doubled within the final 12 months alone. And our presence in firms of any measurement is unmatched out there.”

The transfer comes as GitHub is going through rising competitors from firms like Google and Cursor over AI instruments for programmers.
