The NaNoWriMo group is shutting down

NaNoWriMo (Nationwide Novel Writing Month)is shutting down after greater than 20 years of internet hosting its annual problem for writers. In a video and an email despatched to group members, the nonprofit group explains that it may not proceed “after years of monetary struggles.”

As proven within the video, NaNoWriMo interim government director Kilby Blades particulars how participation and fundraising in this system have decreased in recent times. The NaNoWriMo website will stay on-line for “so long as potential,” although it would not formally host its writing challenges.

“We acknowledge that the closure of NaNoWriMo represents an enormous loss to the writing group, and that grief over this end result can be exacerbated by the challenges of the previous sixteen months,” NaNoWriMo’s e-mail to the group says. “This isn’t the ending that anyone wished or deliberate. And—consider us—if we might hit the delete button and rewrite this final chapter, we might. However we do have hope for the epilogue.”
