Trump says Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan should ‘resign instantly’ | TechCrunch


Amidst heightening tensions with China, U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday insisted that Intel’s CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, should step down, accusing Tan of harboring conflicts of curiosity.

“The CEO of INTEL is extremely CONFLICTED and should resign, instantly. There is no such thing as a different answer to this drawback. Thanks to your consideration to this drawback!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Fact Social.

Trump didn’t share any proof or particulars of why Tan could have conflicts of curiosity.

Trump’s submit comes after Republican Senator Tom Cotton on Wednesday wrote to Intel’s board of administrators, asking about Tan’s alleged ties to China, his investments within the nation, and raised considerations about his time main Cadence Design Methods, which had a Chinese language army college as a buyer.

Tan, who took over the helm in March, has been specializing in enhancing effectivity on the chipmaker, which has misplaced floor to firms like Nvidia and AMD within the AI chip race.
